Dr. Libu Varughese is a board-certified endocrinologist recognized as a Texas Super Doctors Rising Star and named a Top Endocrinologist in Houston by America's Best Doctors. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Houston College of Medicine and actively teaches residents at the Memorial Hermann Family Medicine Residency Program.
A native Houstonian, Dr. Varughese attended medical school at age 16 at Mahatma Gandhi University in India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix — where he served as Chief Resident — before completing his endocrinology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, training at St. Luke's, MD Anderson, and Texas Children's Hospital.
He is double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His research focused on diabetes medications and their effects on inflammation. He is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
